Cancer Recovery Support

Cancer Recovery Support

Holistic, Integrative Support During and After Cancer

Cancer recovery is about more than completing treatment. It’s about restoring strength, resilience, emotional balance, and confidence in your body again.

At Kurrajong Natural Medicine Centre, cancer recovery support is offered as complementary, integrative care to support wellbeing before, during and after cancer treatment, alongside your medical team. We provide supportive cancer care for people across Richmond, Kurrajong Kurrajong Heights, Bilpin, Windsor, North Richmond, the wider Hawkesbury and Western Sydney.

Who Is Cancer Recovery Support For?

Is this support suitable during cancer treatment?

Yes. Support may be appropriate for people receiving conventional treatment and are seeking complementary care focused on wellbeing and quality of life.

Is this support suitable after cancer treatment?

Yes, very much so. Many people seek support after treatment has finished to address ongoing symptoms and rebuild vitality.

Cancer Recovery Support may be suitable for people who:

  • Are recovering from surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy

  • Are experiencing long-term or delayed side effects

  • Want integrative support alongside oncology care

  • Are in remission and seeking holistic recovery support

  • Are managing anxiety, fatigue, or emotional distress after cancer

  • Are seeking support with post-cancer recovery

What Makes This Cancer Recovery Support Different?

A practitioner with lived and clinical experience

This service is informed by both professional training and lived experience.

As a registered doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and a cancer survivor, this approach recognises:

  • The physical impact of cancer treatment

  • The emotional and psychological challenges of recovery

  • The importance of realistic, compassionate, and safe care

This service also provides support to a patient’s family from the perspective of a spouse who has lived experience of supporting her partner while coping with the stresses and anxiety of facing the challenges of having a spouse who is seriously ill.

Experiencing cancer from the patient’s perspective reinforced the importance of compassionate, practical, and evidence-based supportive care. It highlighted the challenges that often continue long after treatment has finished, including fatigue, anxiety, digestive changes, sleep disturbances, reduced resilience, and the adjustment to a “new normal.”

Danny’s wife, Susan, a highly qualified naturopath and medical herbalist with close to 5 decades of experience, shared Danny’s cancer journey in her own way. The fears and worries with respect to the uncertainty of the potential outcomes of Danny’s treatments, provided her with a unique and compassionate view of family members in a similar position.

This unique combination of professional training and personal experience allows Danny and Susan to offer a level of understanding that many patients find reassuring during what can be one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

At Kurrajong Natural Medicine Centre, our goal is not to replace conventional cancer treatment. Rather, we aim to support patients before, during, and after treatment while working alongside their oncology team and other healthcare providers.
